Bioinstagrams: Jonker Walk + Mimosa pudica + Turmeric prawns

Found this giant Mimosa pudica in Segambut. Also known as sensitive plant or touch-me-not, in Chinese it's called 含羞草

Jonker Walk
Welcome to Jonker Walk, Melaka! One of the must visit places when you hit the town, where you can find the street lined with hawkers.

Went to a networking session by MINDS Malaysia at Royal Lake Club. Prawns cooked in turmeric powder is superb!

But hey, what's wrong with Jonker Walk?

Square Dotz Cafe, SS2 Petaling Jaya

While attending Fashion Salad held at the venue, I chilled inside the cafe for a drink.

Instead of usual food post (since I bo lui), I'll be showing you murals found inside the cafe which are said to be the work of Taylor's University architecture students.

Car number plates at the cashier's counter.

These murals can be found downstairs.

I ordered a cup of warm lemon tea and walked upstairs.

And sat at this table.

The mural just above the table.

Paintings can even be found on ceilings.

Wanna sing? The cafe has karaoke facilities for you!

The owner's congratulatory message. Friend's support has been such a formidable driving force.

Time for a sip of warm lemon tea.

Shall return once more to try the food.

Namewee and Nandos Malaysia parodies Sharifah Zohra Jabeen's #Listen

Since the video of Sharifah Zohra Jabeen berating a fellow university student Bawani K.S. has gone viral, Namewee has made a parody of her lines in his talk show, Namewee's Tokok. Namewee has got the mannerism. Hahaha!

Nandos Malaysia has joined the fun and created an ad for themselves!

But who's Sharifah Zohra Jabeen, actually?

Her full name is Sharifah Zohra Jabeen Syed Shah Miskin. She is the President of the little known NGO Suara Wanita 1Malaysia (SW1M) and a Deputy Women's Chief of Malaysian Indian Muslim Congress (KIMMA), a pro-UMNO/BN political party. You can conclude that she is not a pure blooded Malay but a Mamak (a reference for Indian Muslims).

I'm still curious to know which university was attended by Sharifah, since she claimed she holds a degree.

UPDATE: The current president of Malaysian Indina Muslim Congress stepped forward and told that Sharifah is no longer in the party and "hard to control".

Meme aside, UMNO leaders Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah (Deputy Higher Education Minister) and Khairy Jamaluddin went into damage control mode. Read more at The Malaysian Insider.

Dinner with Teresa Kok at Dragon Boat Melbourne

5 months ago, I attended a dinner with Teresa Kok, MP for Seputeh and State Assemblywoman for Kinrara. The dinner cost me 45 AUD (student price).

Teresa Kok was on a business trip to promote economic opportunities in Selangor. At the same time, she was also promoting job opportunities available as a result of development.

I met many Malaysians abroad in Melbourne, both students and migrants, eager to hear the promises and result of Selangor under administration of Democratic Action Party.

Selangor has prospered much since 2008. Opportunities exist in aerospace, automobile and biotechnology.

The dinner took place in Melbourne Chinatown.

At a restaurant I normally reserve for entertaining special guests.

Fried beef was my personal favourite. The beef was blended with black pepper, cooked with beans, with adequate taste.

And a pudding to finish off.

It was nice of Teresa to come Down Under to see how we're doing :)

Cacao Green with Nuffnang Australia bloggers

Months ago, had a chance to visit Cacao Green for a food review with Nuffnang Australia peeps.

That was my second time visiting Cacao. Previously, I had it with my church friends.

A primer of Malaysia Chocolate Fair

Was earlier at Galactic Laser tag with bloggers (though I didn't play), later visited the 4th Malaysian Chocolate Fair at MVEC.

marshmallow in chocolate

Later played bowling with a bunch of bloggers. For the first time, I got a strike! Never been happier with such achievement in bowling.

Apart from tasting the chocolate I'd suggest you to visit the Malaysian Cocoa Board booth. There you can learn about the cocoa plantations and its related industry.

Freshwater delight at Fish Valley Semenyih

I joined my family for dinner deep in a secluded section of Semenyih. Surrounded by a large fish pond, Fish Valley Semenyih offers awesomely delicious freshwater fish on the dinner table.

During the day, the restaurant is a heaven for fishing enthusiasts. You can request the restaurant to cook your catches to celebrate on your fishing victory immediately.

squid ring fish valley semenyih

To begin with, we were served with stir fried squid ring with petai, long beans and pineapple. You can feel a tinge of mild spiciness that comes with petai dishes, coupled with the meaty rings, everything comes together for an umami.

mix fried vegetables fish valley semenyih

White lotus stir fried with beans and carrots, nicknamed mini stir fried dish by the restaurant, gives a vegetatively crispy experience. To sum it all, this dish is really about the lotus.

clam fish valley semenyih

Golden clams was awesome with the gravy sauce.

tofu fish valley semenyih

As with the tofu, it's something you'd expect for a tofu dish. Not bad after all.

fried mee fish valley semenyih

Fried mee named 炒生面.

三宝煲

I like eating the brocolli from the pot but not the fish cake. The fish cakes tasted fishy rendering them unpalatable, at the point of time. Epic #phail.

steam tilapia

The fish were the bomb! Steamed tilapia (非洲鱼) with soya sauce just melts in your mouth.

Steamed carp fish valley semenyih

This black carp, named 黑鲩 gives a slightly varied but comparable gastronomic experience with the tilapia above.
