Samsung Galaxy 5: Facebook

Whose social networking life cannot run away from Facebook, put your hands up!

Indeed, Facebook forms the core of social networking for most people, be it you are student, working adults or enjoying the rest of your life, Facebook keeps you connected with fellow friends around the world. To enjoy Facebook on the Samsung Galaxy 5 to the fullest, using the native app is a good start.

Being familiar with user interface of, Facebook is pretty self exploratory.

Using Facebook, you can check for messages and approve friend requests on the go. What's cool, you can check into places. Sadly, the Places feature was still yet to be available in Malaysia.

By clicking on a status update, you can "Like" it or make a written comment on it.

You are not confined to your computer for the ultimate Facebook experience. To enjoy mobile social networking with minimum cost, get yourself a Samsung Galaxy 5 - it has an awesome spec for an entry level phone, head over to Android Market to download your free Facebook app and you are ready to go!

People with an agenda

During events, I am always glad to have the opportunity to meet new people and exchange contacts, in many occasions I get to meet interesting people and listening to their wisdom, each of them having slightly different interest and expertise, I am always glad to know their little insight of things.

At times, I run into people who take advantage of events for their own selfish purposes. Armed with their buzzword - yumcha, they make me think it's a catching up session to understand a new friend better.

But not when it's revealed to be another gimmick used to promote direct selling/multi-level marketing! That's the part I fucking hate. They're always there to lure new people in, taking advantage of networks, hoping that newbies will buy their products/services or join their company.

Knowing the fact that products sold by direct selling companies doesn't cost 1 or 2 bucks but at least hundreds of bucks, that's not the amount I can afford to fork out. People in the direct selling line are not hoping for a one off sale, in actual fact they are hoping that I'll become one of them and buy products from their company on a regular basis. Why should I pay more for something easily available elsewhere? Do I enjoy better life with your products? Will I have lower standard of living if I don't use your product(s)?

The compensation plan for direct selling always look impressive on paper, making people going over the moon the moment they heard about it. Talk is cheap, when it comes to reaching the volume for a rank or whatnot, reaching it becomes the hardest thing to do. Why is this so? The direct selling model encourages members to generate repeat sales, in turn requiring customers to buy products on a regular basis. Furthermore, the products are pricey, it simply becomes the fact that turns many off. Not only that, from experience, direct selling has ruined many meaningful friendships.

From my experience, I come to know that some members of direct selling set up career development centre to attract new people with courses and motivational talks, along with spins like "providing a loving environment" and "in a family". Knowing the fact that they rely on sales of their direct selling products for income, I feel this practice is not genuine "loving" but faking everything, it's all an illusion.

If you have a hidden agenda in meeting new people, what are friends really for? You risk straining relationships and reputation to earn yourself a living. People not your cash cows. Even the Jews do not rely on friends for business.

Samsung Galaxy 5: Twitter

Upon receiving my review unit of Samsung Galaxy 5, what's the first thing in my mind? You name it, it's Twitter to stay me on the information loop.

One of the very popular Twitter client is .

TweetDeck on Samsung Galaxy 5 Android

TweetDeck is a good application however, as I've mentioned earlier in the previous post, the quirky scrolling spoiled my experience.

I wanted to scroll through the vast number of tweets by using kinetic scrolling but many a times, I accidently clicked a tweet. I had to keep on using the back key to return to the timeline.

Your other alternative to using Twitter on Samsung Galaxy 5 would be the native application.

twitter native app samsung galaxy 5 android

Using the native app, you still get to use much of the basic functionality of Twitter.

As with any other apps, you can press the Menu key to gain access to many additional functionality in the Twitter native app.

Social experience goes hand in hand with the user interface of your phone. As large amount of information are sent through social networks, comfort with user interface should be your top priority.

It's your window to the world, sitting in the palm of your hand.

Not only you can receive information from a social network, but with the Samsung Galaxy 5, you can share information across social networks. Simply press the Menu key and select "Share" on the pop up menu.

You are not limited to these softwares to enjoy Twitter. With the Android marketplace, you can download many good apps, most of them for free.

Freshwater delight at Fish Valley Semenyih

I joined my family for dinner deep in a secluded section of Semenyih. Surrounded by a large fish pond, Fish Valley Semenyih offers awesomely delicious freshwater fish on the dinner table.

During the day, the restaurant is a heaven for fishing enthusiasts. You can request the restaurant to cook your catches to celebrate on your fishing victory immediately.

squid ring fish valley semenyih

To begin with, we were served with stir fried squid ring with petai, long beans and pineapple. You can feel a tinge of mild spiciness that comes with petai dishes, coupled with the meaty rings, everything comes together for an umami.

mix fried vegetables fish valley semenyih

White lotus stir fried with beans and carrots, nicknamed mini stir fried dish by the restaurant, gives a vegetatively crispy experience. To sum it all, this dish is really about the lotus.

clam fish valley semenyih

Golden clams was awesome with the gravy sauce.

tofu fish valley semenyih

As with the tofu, it's something you'd expect for a tofu dish. Not bad after all.

fried mee fish valley semenyih

Fried mee named 炒生面.

三宝煲

I like eating the brocolli from the pot but not the fish cake. The fish cakes tasted fishy rendering them unpalatable, at the point of time. Epic #phail.

steam tilapia

The fish were the bomb! Steamed tilapia (非洲鱼) with soya sauce just melts in your mouth.

Steamed carp fish valley semenyih

This black carp, named 黑鲩 gives a slightly varied but comparable gastronomic experience with the tilapia above.

Singapore Airlines A380 model

An aircraft model scaled to 1:200 is now sitting proudly in my living room.

Singapore Airlines A380 model

On board a flight from Melbourne to Singapore in a Boeing 747-400, the in-flight entertainment system was down, affecting not only me but also a few seats near me. The airline compensated me with a cash voucher, so I bought an aircraft model with it.

Singapore Airlines

Airbus A380 is currently the largest commercial jetliner in service. It can carry up to 800 people in an all economy class configuration.

Introduced in 2007, Singapore Airlines is the first to fly this whispering giant. The A380-800 is also the most fuel efficient passenger aircraft to date.

fly Singapore Airlines

Singapore Airlines now operates flights to Melbourne, Sydney, Paris, London, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Zurich from Singapore Changi Airport with Airbus A380-800. Why Singapore Airlines? I am impressed with the hospitality and professionalism of their cabin crew for a pleasant journey. Not forgetting that you get to enjoy the best in-flight entertainment system when you fly with A380 by Singapore Airlines.

My New Year resolutions for 2011

What will be expected of me in this coming year?

First and foremost, I am one step closer to achieving my dream in science. I'll be in my 3rd and final as an undergraduate in The University of Melbourne. Of course, I aim to complete my major in Biotechnology with flying colours! At the same time, enjoying subjects that forms the cornerstone of my university experience is a must. Since I've chosen the biochemistry stream of my major, there will be more life processes at the molecular level to learn. Not only will I learn about animals but also plants!

During my free time, I share my interest in science in ANZAAS. As a student committee member of the Victorian division, I shall bring the society to greater heights and increasing student participation. I hope to see new speakers and more opportunities for universities to present their research findings! Upcoming will be events specifically for students too.

What about the societies I've joined in university? Chinese Music Group will be having her annual production of a musical play, so stay tuned. As for Fotoholics (the photography club), they'll be having outings and trips. I promise to you, readers, I shall continue on attending the trips to bring you the photos!

As for Planetshakers, my home church in Melbourne, I am attending the annual conference. It's time to grow in faith, baby!

2010 was great, both with her ups and downs. The year ahead, I hope it to be EVEN GREATER.

Happy New Year 2011!

Goodbye to 2010, I'm now embracing the brand new year of 2011! Start it with a BANG, baby.
