Cheer 2010 and the FIFA World Cup
This is best done for live blogging on 11th July 2010 :)
I had an encounter with the champion of the 11th Inter-school Cheer Competition, team Cyrens of SM Sri KL after final results were announced. This year around, the 19th FIFA World Cup final is right after a major cheerleading competition. I met some cheerleaders who are football fans themselves (woot!)
Nur Athira, a fellow member of the squad, said her favourite football player is Cristiano Ronaldo. She hoped Argentine would win but the country was eliminated in the quarter finals.
Captain of Cyrens Cheong Shu-Fei is rooting for Spain! She watched many matches involving Asian teams. However, they stopped watching since the round of 16 to prepare for the Cheer competition and resorted to watching replays and highlights to stay in the World Cup fever. Cyrens yelled their excitement about the upcoming football match and they're going to watch the final together! They're still looking forward to the World Cup final no matter what. On a light note, Shu-Fei believes in match predictions by Paul the octopus too!
Cheer 2010 has come to an end but the heat is carried ON tonight! I can't wait for the kick off between #ESP vs #NED.
The FIFA World Cup final ended with victory for Spain by a golden goal at the last 5 minutes of second extra time.

The heat was ON, many teams had dramatic improvement compared to past years. The competition has improved and a new benchmark was set! Not only the top 5, I think many teams gave worthy performances. The competition was really full of surprises as many traditional powerhouses were outperformed. Cyrens astonished the crowd with their continuous and clean routine, they rise from a nobody to glory! Stompers and D'Starz did an amazing job to surprise as well. Mickeymitez, the team you can't ignore, made a stunning debut, good job!
For the first time, Shirtliff, the team which won the most title and a top 5 regular, didn't make it. What a sad day for Shirtliff, on the other hand this tells us that we're now in a new era of inter school cheerleading, a new generation of powerhouses is rising up and the degree of improvement of new teams! Dynamitez's ability to stay in the top 5 tells us that they're improving to stay relevant in the competition. Good job =)
See you next year! Cheer 2011 will be more competitive than ever.

Cheer 2010 National Final day 1
The much awaited inter-school cheerleading competition national final has finally arrived!
Errata: Xavier did not register for this year so CBN is sending Adele for competition.
What I'm here for? Not rooting for any team to win the championship. I come with expectations for the best of performances so put your best foot forward, baby!
This year round, with the advent of Twitter, live Twitting has never been easier with mobile phones. I like it when the host Jeremy Teo took his BlackBerry out to tweet! The hashtag for Cheer 2010 national final is #cheer2010. Be sure to include that in your tweet!
Dynamitez supporters semangat! Go Go Dynamitez, together we unite!
I answered a question for full name of CHARM, the sanctioning body of the competition and won cosmetics from Silkygirl! Oh yeah, it's all girl's stuff in the goodie bag. What's the answer? CHeerleading Association and Registry of Malaysia :)
After a whole day worth of watching, the Top 15 are out! Ranked from first to last:
The overall standard of the competition has been pushed to new heights! I noticed vast improvements on most of the teams. It was so hard to pick the teams that deserve to enter top 15 for a layperson like me! Each of them never fail to captivate me with their performance.
We have a rising star, D*Starz. For the first time, a team from a private school, Cyrens managed to impress. Zodiac All-Girls made it for the first time too! Mickeymitez made a stunning debut and it's an open secret that Best Newcomer Award is theirs! Of course not forgetting the traditional powerhouses and new generation winners. Ignite from the south really deserve a mention, they're the champion for the south division, I really like their high and powerful basket toss, what a crowd captivator!
The heat is still ON so see you tomorrow! Do it better, baby.

Cheer 2010 preview
The annual inter-school cheerleading competition is tomorrow!
The competition is taken part by teams from high schools across Malaysia. This year round, we have 35 teams with four newcomers included.
This is the performance order of the teams on Day One of Cheer 2010 (9 am - 5 pm), from first to last:
Legend:
Defending Champion
All boys team
Newcomer
The teams will perform in reverse order on Day Two.
So many teams are performing so which team should I watch? I provide a rough guide here. I'd suggest you to watch all of newcomers' performance - the best newcomer claims an award, and I'd like to know if the best newcomer can impress! In the unofficial Boys' Category, check out on Pirates and Ignite. You can't afford to miss performances by the powerhouses namely Dynamitez, Shirtliff, Xavier and Titans. Calyx All-Girls is a rising star; and watching the defending champion Blitzers is a must.
Cheer 2010 is will be held on 10-11 July 2010 @ Putra Indoor Stadium, Bukit Jalil from 9 am to 5 pm. Admission is free.
See you there!
